When "close enough" isn't good enough . . .
Norwood Construction offers high precision grading for all your construction needs.
Contemporary construction competition has forced the construction industry to think and work smarter. Laser technology is an answer to the demands of contemporary technology. While laser technology is not new, laser technology has advanced over the past decades to the place of being able to control machinery hydraulics.
This means greater accuracy in machine control. While equipment operators of the past needed to rely on grade stakes, grade checkers and their eye, today they have electronic controls that create greater accuracy more efficiently.
Laser grading increases accuracy and efficiency, thereby becoming more cost effective.
Laser grading is the most cost effective way to grade surfaces that require strict tolerances to grade. It is also the most cost effective way to grade both sub-grade and finish graded areas. Laser grading sub-grade will diminish the amount of fill material required. This is because the area being graded will not require extra materials need to fill holes or over graded areas.
By laser grading, you not only achieve the most accurate mean final grading possible (usually within 1/2 to 3/8 inch), but it saves the additional expense of extra materials to make up for the improper grading of sub grades. Our laser-grading equipment is automatically controlled by combining hydraulic and electronic equipment that corrects itself several times per minute.
Lasers and Construction
In construction, the quality of the finished product is determined by the quality of the foundation. Laser grading solves this problem by grading the target area to close specifications unattainable by any other grading technique.
Norwood Construction can laser grade on multiple planes. Many applications require multiple slope planes in order to guarantee accurate drainage. Our laser system is capable of grading multiple planes to close tolerances.
Sports Fields
Sports fields often require special grades to meet technical specifications. However, these are not the only applications for laser grading. Laser grading can meet the same specifications in many other applications.
If accuracy and time are important to your project, laser grading can provide you with optimum results while saving on labor costs and materials. Depending upon the type of material being graded. The Laser grading system can usually grade 1 1/2" or 3/4" crushed gravel to within 3/8" tolerance and stone dust, sand or loam to within 1/4" tolerance.
Our System
Our fundamental laser system is a laser controlled Case 570 XT. The Case 570M XT Turbo is equipped with an 80-net-horsepower (60 kW) engine and features a new 93-inch (236 cm) bucket along with laser attachments to provide positive performance. The 570M XT Turbo is ideally suited for work in building construction, roads, utility, agriculture and landscaping applications.
However, we have several other machines that have laser-assisted devices to increase operator accuracy.
In the last few years a major change has swept over the world of construction equipment, and it can be summed up in two words: machine control. Machine control can take practically all of the guesswork out of grading and excavation by using laser, global positioning, and other advanced technology to set parameters and measurements otherwise done manually or with a trained eye. This type of laser technology does not take the equipment operator out of the loop, per se, it makes him a more intricate part of the process. Lasers are now controlling machinery in a number of ways. The operator may only have to guided the machine in some situations. In most applications the new laser technology helps the equipment operator determine the grade he is working towards with greater accuracy and efficiency.
Laser grading saves time and money that would have been otherwise spent on labor and materials.
The end result is accuracy and cost effectiveness.
This saves building contractors time and money.
